Sharing a little blast from the past today as I dug out my trusty old 80s-style GE alarm clock from storage this week and decided to give it a new lease on life. 🕰️ There's a certain charm and nostalgia that comes with using analog gadgets in this digital age, and I couldn't resist the allure of those iconic red glowing numbers once again. One of the things I've come to appreciate about this vintage alarm clock is the sense of tranquility it brings to my nighttime routine. Instead of relying on my cell phone as an alarm, with its constant stream of notifications and distractions, I now have a dedicated device that helps me disconnect from the digital noise. There's something oddly comforting about seeing those red digits softly illuminating the room, providing a gentle reminder of the time without the need to grab my phone and get blinded by the harsh blue light. It's a small change, but it has made a significant impact on how I approach my evenings and mornings. In a world where we're constantly connected and inundated with information, taking a step back and embracing simpler technologies can be a breath of fresh air. It's a reminder to slow down, appreciate the beauty of analog devices, and find moments of peace amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life.So here's to rediscovering the joy of retro gadgets and savoring the quiet moments they bring. 🥂 Who knew that setting up an old alarm clock could lead to such a sense of contentment?#Nostalgia #AnalogCharm #DigitalDetox 🌙✨

Consider the Potential Risks of EMF from Earbuds...In our tech-driven world, earbuds have become a ubiquitous accessory, accompanying us through workouts, commutes, and work calls. However, as convenient as they are, it's essential to be aware of the potential risks associated with prolonged use, particularly concerning electromagnetic fields (EMF). The EMF ConcernElectromagnetic fields are invisible areas of energy, often referred to as radiation, associated with the use of electrical power and various forms of natural and man-made lighting. The increasing use of wireless devices means we are more exposed to EMF than ever before. Here’s why it's important:🔸 Potential Health Risks: Some studies suggest a link between long-term EMF exposure and various health issues, including headaches, sleep disturbances, and even more severe conditions like cancer.🔸 Brain Proximity: Earbuds, especially wireless ones, are in close proximity to the brain, leading to higher localized exposure levels. This proximity raises concerns about potential impacts on brain health and cognitive functions.🔸 Children and Adolescents: Young people are more susceptible to EMF because their skulls are thinner, and their brains are still developing. This makes the potential risks even more significant for this demographic.❓ What Can You Do ❓ 🔸 Limit Usage: Use earbuds sparingly. Opt for wired headphones, when possible, as they emit lower levels of EMF.🔸 Keep Distance: When not in use, keep your earbuds away from your body. Store them in a bag or on a desk rather than in your pocket.🔸 Airplane Mode: Use airplane mode on your device when you don't need an internet connection, reducing EMF exposure.🔸 Speaker Mode: For long conversations, consider using the speaker mode on your phone instead of earbuds.Staying InformedIt's crucial to stay informed about the devices we use daily. While research is ongoing, taking preventive measures can help mitigate potential risks. For those who want to delve deeper into this topic, here are some resources:🔹 National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS): NIEHS on EMF🔹 National Cancer Institute: Electromagnetic Fields🔹 Scientific American: Are AirPods and Other Bluetooth Headphones Safe?As we embrace technology, let's also be mindful of our health. By making small changes, we can enjoy our gadgets while minimizing potential risks.Stay safe and informed!#Health #Wellness #Technology #EMF #Earbuds #SafetyFirstFeel free to share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below!https://ehtrust.org/

📱 Devices can be draining! Quick tip to rebalance and boost your energy...💻 Most of us rely on our phones, laptops, TV's.... so it's not realistic to stop using technology but we can rebalance very quickly through connecting with nature.🔋 I find that spending too much time on my phone / laptop (like I am now!) has a big impact on how I am feeling - feeling drained of energy, foggy headed and a bit bleurggh... I've now added a quick practice every day which only takes minutes but makes a huge difference.🌻 It's all about connecting back to nature - natural sights and sounds help ground and rebalance our bodies whereas unnatural sounds (the dings, notifications etc) can do the opposite - knocking us out of balance. ⚡ The tech we use daily is full of electromagnetic waves that are not in alignment with our ownenergetic field. The earth carries a huge negative charge which acts as a powerful anti-oxidant, helping remove free radicals from the body. So by getting outside, connecting with nature (ideally bare feet on the ground) helps our energy to flow - helping us feel better and rebalancing from all the artificial gadgets we use.🌲 So getting outside in the garden, feeling the sun on your face, listening to the birds, feet in the ground for a few minutes each day can make a huge difference to how you feel and your energy levels. Plus you give yourself a break from the desk!🤔 If you can't get outside, the science has shown that we can still get a benefit from looking out the window or imagining being outside. #healthtips #wellbeingtips #biztips

Red vs Blue: Which Light Must You Set Your Device Screens To? Know What Wins For Your EyesRed or blue, which colour of light should you set your device screen to? This situation is quite similar to Morpheus asking Neo to choose between the red pill and the blue pill in The Matrix (1999). Neo chose the red pill because it would allow him to come out of the illusion created by the matrix and know what the real world was like. Had he chosen the blue pill, he would have never known that he was living in a simulation. While choosing between the red pill and the blue pill was a tough choice, it is not too difficult to decide which colour of light one must set their electronic device screens to. Red light and blue light have advantages and disadvantages that vary in accordance with situations, and knowing these will make it simpler for people to choose between the two. The light colour that wins for one's eyes depends on the time of the day, surrounding lighting conditions, and the type of task being performed. To know the answers to all your questions, read my article. Radifah the science journalist is your saviour! 😚https://lnkd.in/g5Sx35RM

I did an experiment- NO SCREENS for 6 hours on a Sunday. I read about this experiment in a book called ‘Digital Minimalism’ and decided to give it a shot.It was a regular Sunday when I was home by myself. I resolved not to use any electronic devices for the next 6 hours. Here’s what happened and my learnings from it:-> Uneasiness: First few hours I felt restless for not being able to check my phone or watch something on my laptop. It is an automatic response to just unlock our phones when we are bored and I had to consciously keep telling myself ‘NO’.-> Brain Fog: 4 hours into it, my mind started thinking more clearly. I was surprised by this as it felt like a layer of fog had been lifted from my brain. I could think clearly for long without getting distracted. I still can’t believe that a short duration of no screen time can do this to the mind-> Other interesting activities: To keep my brain engaged, I ended up doing other activities like cooking, reading and Mandala making. I also asked my flatmate if she wanted to go for a walk (which was rare) and it turned out to be a beautiful evening.Smart phones and laptops might give us the illusion that we are connected but in reality it makes us more disconnected than connected.Want to think more clearly? Try out this experiment this week and let me know in the comments how it goes.#digitaldetox #habits #experiment #noscreensunday #noscreen #personalstory

𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗽𝗻𝗲𝗮: 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗯 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴Dr. Linda Stone, a former Microsoft executive and researcher coined the term Screen Apnea in 2007. Screen Apnea is the unintentional or subconscious habit of holding our breath or not breathing properly while using digital devices.Screen apnea tends to be rooted in our body’s response to stress. It is our body’s instinct to engage in flight or fright in response to stress. When using any kind of digital device our nervous system is stimulated with new kinds of stimuli or information. Since our whole is covered with continuous usage of mobiles phones, TVs, and laptops the content information keeps the nervous system on alert for info. Our bodies are not used to being constantly stimulated, hence with so much information to process at once our brain assesses everything to determine whether coming information is a threat or not.So the fight or flight response disrupts our breathing pattern to focus on the multiple coming information. It reduces the importance of other needs in our body such as breathing to concentrate more on the info hence beginning the cycle of screen apnea.Be mindful about your screen habits. 💜#technology#healthyhabits#screentime
